O Tac's work resonates with the human nature of seeking balance amidst ambiguous boundaries. Symbols and representations that may seem unrelated approach us with a sense of unfamiliarity, feeling like a collection of elements that are often seen as extreme contrasts, such as subject and object, painting and design, text and image. The artist focuses on the intricate relationships between the elements that construct narratives, bestowing new aesthetic value on what is hidden or exists in between. 오정택의 작업은 모호한 경계 사이에서 균형을 찾고자 하는 인간의 천성과 맞닿아 있다. 자칫 연관이 없는 듯 보이는 기호와 표상은 낯선 이미지로 다가오고 주체와 객체, 회화와 디자인, 텍스트와 이미지처럼 극단의 비교 대상으로 놓이기 쉬운 요소가 혼재된 집합처럼 느껴진다. 작가는 이야기를 구성하는 요소들의 긴밀한 관계에 집중한다. 가려져 있거나 숨겨져 있는 것 혹은 사이에 존재하는 것들에 새로운 미학적 가치를 부여한다. 상대적 관점을 다루는 이번 작업은 모호한 매체와 요소들을 통해 그동안의 작업 주제를 관통하듯 절대적 해석이 존재하지 않는 세계에서 개인의 고유한 주체성에 대해 물으며 지나치게 객관화되어 받아들이기 쉬워진 현상들 사이 선택적 해석에 관한 아슬아슬한 경험을 선사한다.
